The Center for Urban Agriculture, Asheville (CUAA) is a non-profit, community based organization currently in developmental staging. During this staging, CUAA will complete its acquisition of land and begin immediate implementation of sustainable agriculture development as well as assembly of non-environmental impact facilities for the center. In addition many projects will be taken on and created to further advance our cause.
It is CUAA's primary goal to be a globally esteemed paradigm of small to mid-sized urban food production, and possess the ability to preserve agriculturally, and educate through nature based programs.
Our mission is to preserve the agricultural heritage and natural integrity of the center; provide the local community organically grown fruits and vegetables; demonstrate the economic viability of sustainable agricultural methods for small to mid-sized farm operations; research and interpret the connections between food, land, and community well being; and nurture the human spirit through educational programs and public outreach both on and off the farm.
Our farm will produce a multitude of fruits, vegetables, and other produce to harvest for our community outreach programs which in turn will feed many families throughout the year, and create new employment opportunities for approximately 25 individuals leaving over 50% of our workforce comprised of volunteers and individuals from within our community. We strive to cultivate the community through our many educational programs, workshops, seminars, farmers markets, tours, apprenticeships and internships, community outreach and enrichment of schools and communities local and abroad.
We encourage you to come by our facilities and join us in our expedition of a better economy and a better environment for a healthier tomorrow through our farm and gardens, our many varietals of produce, educational programs, and many resources we offer to the community.
